Instagram Find

One of the things I love most about instagram is how amazingly inspiring it is! Recently I started following Starr Crow on instagram and I just adore her feed... full of amazing thrift finds and creative sewing projects. She also has a lovely blog called A thought is the blossom which is packed with her amazing style and dreamy photography. You must take a look.

In other news, I now have over 1000 followers on instagram! An achievement I am quite unashamedly proud of!

Weekend Delights

Here are a few things I'm getting up to this weekend:
  • Renting out The Hunger Games to watch tonight! I loved this movie and am really looking forward to seeing it again.
  • Visiting all kinds of markets on Saturday morning. Will probably go to Harvest farmers market first, then to Inveresk to visit the Niche market and then hopefully to the Flourish conference market if I have time!
  • Doing a little bit of shopping. Dad gave me some money to buy a new pair of jeans for myself as a birthday present after I had complained about only having one pair. He is too kind sometimes :)
  • Getting spoilt on Sunday. Matt and my lovely friend Natalie have planned a surprise for me and I am dying to know what it is! I'm actually quite impressed that they haven't caved in and told me yet!

Cute little vintage find

{Picture from my instagram @greylace}

I found this lovely little pear-shaped canister while out op-shopping with Matt the other day. He was on the lookout for a bread maker (I know random!) and I was hoping to find a teapot or two. Just before we were about to leave I thought I'd just quickly check the 'bric a brac' section and then this little pretty caught my eye! It was very dusty and dirty but seeing as it was only $1 I thought I'd get it anyway and see if a bit of scrubbing would make it just like new (which I am very please to say it did!). I just love the pretty, pastel floral-ness and I also love the fact that it is shaped like a pear and has a picture of a pear on it! It's just too cute for words! I'm thinking of using it to stick cake pops in at my tea party.

Pretty Party Bunting

As I mentioned last post, I'm planning to have a tea party to celebrate my 20th birthday. So far I have collected some pretty floral vintage tea cups, plates and a tea pot as well as lots of other random goods such as doilies and table cloths to use. I also found an amazing vintage canister thing that I am pretty sure is my most favourite thing I have ever found while op-shopping... it is just so cute! I will definitely need to share it here sometime! Anyway, in order to match all of the floral goodness I decided to make some floral bunting flags to use for decoration.

I used mainly vintage fabrics (because lets face it vintage fabric is the best!) and added a few doily flags to give it a little something extra.

Pretty scraps.

So yes... I'm very happy with how it turned out and I don't think I'll ever get over how pretty vintage fabric is! I've made quite a lot of bunting over the past couple of years and it's nice to finally make some for myself to keep and use for my own special occasions.

Tea Party Inspiration

This year for my birthday I have decided to have a tea party with a few of my closest friends to celebrate. I like to think of myself as a bit of a baker and so I am really looking forward to getting in the kitchen and making lots of sweet treats for it! I've also been out hunting for some pretty teacups, teapots and other vintage tea party goods and have been pretty successful so far!

Dreaming of summer...

I found these pretty images by Rookie Mag via the lovely blog Kristie & Lola and they make me so excited for summer! I just can't wait for warm relaxing summer afternoons to be able to spend my time outdoors reading books in pretty dresses... It can't come soon enough!

Birthday Wishlist

In 2 weeks time it is my 20th birthday and for the first time in ages I have decided to come up with a birthday wishlist! So here are a few things I wouldn't mind getting this year...

Vintage Packaging

The other day I did a post on my new retro Tala icing set and while writing it I discovered that you can still buy original Tala bake ware goods on Ebay with the vintage packaging and everything! Since then I have been a little obsessed with vintage packaging... (I have always loved it, but now I can't get enough of it!) It is just so lovely and the pastel colours that vintage packaging so often have are truly amazing! Here is a collection of vintage packaging I have found via pinterest lately.

A list of things to make

Here is a list of things that I would like to hopefully make before the end of the year...
  • Some summery skirts made from pretty vintage fabric.
  • This lovely colette pattern.
  • A quilt made up from all of my most favourite vintage fabrics as a sort of keepsake. So even if I use up all of the fabric I will always have a little square of it to keep forever.
  • Some pretty party bunting.
  • Some knitted socks for Matt. Yes... he has asked me to make him socks for his birthday this year.

Tala Icing Set

The cutest thing arrived in the mail today... A Tala Retro Icing Set! This set is kept in the most lovely box and even comes with a retro 'how to decorate a cake' book! I'm so excited to give it ago and I may even have to save up for some more Tala bake-ware sets. You can also buy some of the original Tala products on Ebay that come with the original packaging and everything!

Quirky Circus

As I mentioned in my last post I am once again inspired to start making more of my own clothes (if only I had more time!) and as I was searching for some sewing ideas I stumbled across Quirky Circus Spring 2012 range. I have to admit none of the clothing jump out at me, but just look at all that vintage goodness used as props!! They alone are so lovely I could look at them all day and they have definitely inspired me to keep on crocheting and churning out more pretty blankets as well as start making some brightly coloured cushions and hang pretty plates from my walls!

July Snaps

Here are a few snap shots I took on my instagram during the month of July. Due to the fact that it is freezing here at the moment, a lot of my snaps have been of cups of tea, quiet reading times and other winter treats. Now that the last month of winter is here I'm suddenly feeling very inspired and motivated to start sewing and making a few different bits and pieces again! Looking forward to hopefully taking a few more crafty snaps this month!
